The Narrows — Bottom Up
Wade upstream into a 1,000-ft slot canyon. Zion's signature bucket-list walk.
The Mighty Five & Beyond
A knife-edge ridge with chain-assisted final half-mile leading to a perched 1,488-foot platform above Zion Canyon — the most iconic photo in the Southwest.
The 5.4-mile round trip starts on a paved switchback through Refrigerator Canyon, climbs Walter's Wiggles to Scout Lookout, then commits to the chains for the final half-mile knife-edge spine. Honest exposure, fatal-fall potential, 1,488 feet of elevation gain. Not a hike for an off day — but if you're at Anasazi Cliffs, you're here for moments like this.
The permit lottery is on Recreation.gov and changes regularly — check current windows before booking dates. A sunrise start is cooler, emptier, and catches golden light on the Great White Throne. If the lottery doesn't work out, East Mesa Trail (below) is the only hike in Zion that lets you look down on Angels Landing without the chains.
