Wire Mesa is the trail you ride before Gooseberry — and the trail you'll come back to between bigger days. Ten to fifteen minutes from the property, it's a 7.4-mile loop of moderate slickrock and dirt singletrack with sustained Zion views from every overlook. Easier than Gooseberry, harder than a paved bike path, perfectly sized for a half-day adventure with kids old enough to ride confidently.
The east-rim overlook is the moment — directly facing the West Temple, with the Watchman in the foreground. Stop, drink water, take the photo, then roll the rest of the loop. There are a few sandy sections where the trail crosses dirt road and a couple of slickrock benches that reward technique without requiring it.
For families: kids comfortable with mountain biking on flat singletrack should be fine here. For warmups: this is a perfect 90-minute loop the morning of a big Gooseberry day to dial in your tire pressure and spot any mechanical issues before committing to the bigger mesa.
