Toquerville Falls is the local swimming hole — a two-tiered waterfall fed by La Verkin Creek, hidden 8 miles off pavement on a dirt road that filters out casual visitors. The lower pool is deep enough to jump into safely (locals do); the upper tier is more for sitting under and getting cooled off.

**The drive in is the catch.** The road runs about 8 miles of unmaintained dirt with rocky stretches that will defeat low-clearance vehicles. High-clearance 4WD is strongly recommended, AWD acceptable in dry conditions. After rain the road becomes impassable; after snow it can stay closed for weeks.

Go in spring or early summer for the strongest waterfall flow. Late summer the falls drop to a trickle. Bring water, a towel, water shoes for the rocks. Pack out everything you pack in — this place stays good because locals respect it.
