Quail Creek State Park

Quieter than Sand Hollow, deeper water — best for paddleboard yoga and SUP lessons.

Quail Creek is Sand Hollow's quieter sibling — same red-rock setting, deeper water, fewer crowds, perfect for paddleboarding without the speedboat traffic. 600 acres of impossibly clear blue water surrounded by basalt and sandstone, 20 minutes from the property.

**Best activities:** paddleboard, SUP yoga (Dig Paddlesports runs classes seasonally), kayak, swimming. The lake is deep enough for jumps off the rocks at the south end (popular with locals; check water levels first). Limited beach access compared to Sand Hollow but the swimming areas are clearly marked.

For families: easy, low-key alternative to Sand Hollow when motorboat noise feels like too much. For paddleboard yoga: Quail Creek is the pick — the lake is calmer, the views from a board are unbeatable.

Before you go

  • Lifeguards are not on duty
  • Cliff jumping at south end requires water-depth verification — never jump blind
  • Wind picks up afternoons — best paddle window is morning
